Practice Makes Perfect

Image
A few weeks back, I got some new leather lace. So I decided that it was time to make some halters. My first victim was Snowman. His mold is the perfect one to try things on, in my opinion. (And he needed a new halter anyway) Here’s how it came out: As usual, I made all the hardware myself. I can’t really afford to get a bunch from Rio Rondo.    But this was my first attempt at a rolled throat latch. I am very pleased with how it came out. :) I think Snowman is pleased too! After I completed the first halter, I was just dying to make another. This time I made one for my  favorite Breyer , Adamek. I used all the same techniques, but this time I tried adding little stitch marks to all the leather. I was really happy with that one too, but I still felt that I could do better. So I got one of my other horses.(My only horse that I  cannot name! Seriously, literally nothing I think of suits him. )  And started making one for him. I added stitch markings to this one too, and I think they turne

Slither

Better late then never right? It’s almost a month after Halloween and I’m just introducing Slither now!πŸ˜… This is my first Halloween horse, they usually don’t appeal to me, but there was just something about Slither. Maybe because he’s on my favorite Classic mold?   But from what I’ve heard, Slither is one of those horses you either love or hate.  I was super excited to see the adorable box he came in! I just love how Breyer did this one! He was nicely packaged too,  And here he is!  The tag is really cute too! And his color is very nice  If it’s under the right lighting, there is even some blue and purple. I just love this mold! He’s so handsome! And his name is written on his belly  There are a few flaws with his paint, but nothing major. Then of course I had to try him in the dark! I put him under my desk lamp for 10-15 minutes and here are the results: Very happy with this guy! I hope to get more horses on this mold soon!

Stablemates Galore!

Image
As promised, just a like late, here are the new herd members. A few weeks ago I got a lot of 13 Stablemates.  I’m going to be customizing most of them, but are keeping two OF including this adorable little Highland Pony: Meet Sugar High, aka Shugs :) This guy is the other one I wasn’t going to customize. Quite obviously, since he is a SM club horse! I decided to sell him and use the money to get a horse I like more. I’m this case, I used a bit of it to get Slither, the Classic Halloween horse :)   I’ll do a post on him later!

Ponies, Projects, and Paint!

It’s taken almost a month, but I finally finished my two horses that I painted for Breyers National Fun Day workshop “how to paint a chestnut”.  This little guy is Storm Chaser, a mustang stallion. I’ve got to say that my favorite thing about him is his little half white muzzle. I was originally going to do just a star and small snip, but my paintbrush had other ideas lol. But I’m glad it did! I love him like that 😊 There are a lot of things that can be improved, but for my first micro, and my first chestnut , I’d say he came out pretty well. If anybody has tips for making his pinto spots look more realistic, I’d love to hear them!!! And this is April Showers an American Quarter Horse mare. (I eventually want to paint her a foal named May flowersπŸ₯°) Her cute little face πŸ’• I really enjoyed making the tail fade from dark to light, it looks really cool. I tried to do the same on her mane… it isn’t as good but it’s doable. While I am in a painting mood I am making some progress on my  p
